In the pursuit of the perfect amber liquid we stop at nothing to find the best Italy has to offer. From numerous beer festivals with your little tickets and glass on a string (very handy after a hard job tasting) to jumping in the car and setting out to visit far and wide the breweries that we hear whispers about. While craft beer is growing bigger ever day in Italy, its still hard to find venues that stock a wide range. Like most things in Italy they tend to be very regionally focused, so any craft beers you do find will probably come from the immediate region, and you’ll rarely see a beer from say Rome in the North at your little local venue. There are more and more craft bars opening, but even then they tend to only carry a small selection of the hundreds available.
So what to do for your love of craft? Jump in the car and drive, and man oh man, has it been rewarding. Tomorrow its of to one of the biggest surprise finds “Extraomnes” A small brewery we came across at a festival in Milan and wow did they impress. A range of beers that even “Rate Beer” gives above 90 for each rated beer. I can’t wait for this adventure and their amazing Coffee Stout.

More beers to add to our collection and no doubt another tasting session this weekend with the official tasting team. It’s a hard job tasting beers and driving around Italy :-). But someone has to do it!
